KISSIMMEE – On Sept. 15, JUFL’s Student Government Association held a meeting to pinpoint and discuss key issues that the student body found with the 2015-2016 Student Handbook. Several topics were brought up, and since the meeting took place, two issues have made it through the proposal process.
Effective immediately, the co-ed visitation hours on weekends will be extended to 10 p.m. On these days, curfew is also extended from 12 a.m. to 1 a.m. Administration agreed that the visitation hours should be set back an hour to go along with curfew, allowing students more time for fellowship in the common areas of the apartments.
Along with visitation hours being modified, the university’s library has agreed to extend their week day hours to 11 p.m. for the last four weeks of the semester. Since this will be considered a “trial run,” the library staff will be keeping track of how many students utilize this extra hour. If the trial run goes well, it will be repeated for the final four weeks of the Spring semester, and budgeting will be requested for an extra student worker position in the library for the 2016-2017 school year.
