KNOXVILLE — Snow and ice forced Johnson University Tennessee to run classes on a delayed schedule Wednesday morning. As weather picked up later in the day, the school’s administration made the call to close the university entirely starting at 2 p.m.

Joy Wingfield, Director of Program Administration, said the delay and cancellation of classes were due to unsafe driving conditions for students and faculty who live off campus.

“At this moment, everything is on normal schedule for tomorrow,” she said Wednesday afternoon.

Wingfield said students should make use of Johnson’s emergency text message service to stay up to date on any further developments.

“Sign up for Nixle,” Wingfield said. “You’ll know before everyone else.”

Students can register for Nixle by texting  johnsonu2011 to 888777.

Should the school implement the delayed class schedule again, students can find information on that here.
