KNOXVILLE — SGA is coordinating two student events on the JUTN campus this Sunday night.
The first is an open dorm event in Brown Hall and the second is a Super Bowl party in the EAC.
Both events will have food provided by Pioneer Catering Services.
The events were planned by Jordan Hess, student activities director of SGA.
The event in the EAC will begin at 6 p.m. while open dorms will begin at 6:3o p.m. Both events will finish when the Super Bowl game ends.
SGA president Kaleb Mullins said that the length of the events will depend on the length of the game.
“The Lady Gaga half time show could be about seven years long so you never know,” he said, laughing.
Mullins also said that this event has been in the works for quite some time.
“We’ve had people approach us and ask us about having the dorms open for the Super Bowl,” he said. “It is something that has come up several times and it is something we’ve said that we would look into, and we did.”
SGA representatives worked together with Student Life Vice President Dave Legg and Brown Hall Resident Director Weldon Davis to make the event happen.
“Everyone thought it was a good idea, and thought it would be something new and fun, that everyone would enjoy,” Mullins said.
Open dorms are normally held once a month, primarily on Thursdays. This event will mark the first time open dorms are held on a weekend.
