KNOXVILLE — The Johnson Royals baseball team hits the road Friday for their first away game and their season opener against Toccoa Falls College. The three-game series begins at 6 p.m. Friday and goes through Saturday.

“After practicing rigorously for six months, we have made strides in many different aspects of the game,” said Keegan Galloway, a freshman on the team, about the team’s preparation for this season. “We hit at least twice a week in private batting cages and strive to improve our bats and plates discipline.”

With this weekend being the team’s first game, Galloway said the team is “confident in our ability, our mindset and our coaching staff.”

“The team’s camaraderie and our personal relationships are something we value and try to carry over to the field as much as possible,” Galloway said.

The Royals first home game will be 6 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Ridley Helton Stadium, 658-698 Jessamine St, Knoxville.
