KNOXVILLE – Student Government Association held it’s first CoffeeHouse event of the year on Nov. 11, in the newest addition to campus, the Athletic and Recreation Complex.
Staff, students, and performer’s friends and family overfilled the ARC’s reserved room for the event. The event showcased a variety of talents and art, including a performance by Johnson University’s President, Tommy Smith. The audience enjoyed everything from poetry to music, comedy to interactive acts, and an intermission to enjoy the art and photographs on display.
For the first time in CoffeeHouse’s history, the audience also voted on music and art to pick one winner in each category.
The winner of the art category was Olivia Montalvo.
The winner of the performance category was a band called ‘The Vibe’. Griffin Taylor, Matthew Rottet, Keaton Stone, and Ben McDuffie make up the band.
“It was fantastic,” the lead vocalist in The Vibe, freshman Griffin Taylor, said. ” It was a great experience and a ton of fun to play with my band.”
The next CoffeeHouse will take place next semester, Feb. 10.
